LFC Est.1892 (03-06-1892)

ON THIS DAY: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LFC
Steve Hunter

lfc_onpitch_120.jpg Liverpool FC was born on this day in 1892.

The club was changed when Everton FC founder John Houlding signed a certificate to alter the name of the club residing at Anfield from Everton Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited to Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited.

Liverpool FC kicked off in the Lancashire League in September and a glorious new institution began.

Elsewhere on this day back in 1977, Kevin Keegan bade a fond farewell to Anfield when he joined German side SV Hamburg for £500,000. He played 323 games for the Reds and scored 100 goals, helping us win the European Cup, three league titles, two UEFA Cups and the FA Cup.
